FOXSI will fly again!!!
FOXSI-5 is led by P.I. Juan Camilo Buitrago-Casas at the University of California at Berkeley. The experiment is a reflight of the FOXSI-4 experiment, with a few touch-ups and replaced parts.
Like FOXSI-4, FOXSI-5 will attempt to observe a solar flare in progress. It will join at least one other experiment for a sounding rocket solar flare campaign from the White Sands Missile Range. The campaign will be arranged in a few sets of launch windows of a few days each, with the sets spaced out by weeks or months. This arrangement gives us the opportunity to sample a wide variety of solar conditions, in the hopes that the Sun will eventually produce a big flare for us to launch on.
Stay tuned for more news and updates on FOXSI-5!
